Ecology Terms

Innate behavior- behavior determined by the nervous system

Abiotic factor- A non-living chemical or physical factor in the environment

Community- a social group of any size whose members resident a specific locality, share government, and often have a common cultural and historical heritage

Mutuality- a relationship between two species of organisms in which both benefit from the association

Predation- depredation;plundering

Omnivore- someone or something that is omnivorous

Food chain- a series of organisms interrelated in their feeding habits ,the smallest being fed upon by a larger one ,which in turn feeds a still larger one

learned behavior- is a behavior that is observed and it is desired that it is beneficial to their kind

Carrying capacity- the maximum number of animals that a ecosystem can withhold
